Pop concert diva

Had a surreal experience on sat. Have been ushering for some extra pocket money at college and during one of the jobs was asked by a lecturer to roll up at the Manchester arena (huge stadium) on sat. We were rushing in different directions and so had no time to talk much but was promised a hundred pounds and was told to wear funky black.

Money money money...anyway so dutifully turned up at the arena at noon all ready to do my day of ushering only to be shoved some music and told I was back up singing for the concert. It turned out to be come big pop concert with McFly, Sophie Ellis bextor and other big names in aid of the girl guides. There apparently was a nationwide singing competition among the guides and the winner was singing alongside the stars at this gig. I along with some star-struck and (very pretty leggy) first years were roped in to ohh and ahh in the background.

Was tons of fun as we had all you can drink, all you can eat and a big screen TV to entertain us between shows. There were fourteen thousand screaming people in each show and pyrotechnics shooting out at regular intervals singeing our hair.

Bizarre but fun fun fun.....really felt me age tho... had no clue who was who and happily chatted to folk without knowing who they were. The guys were really nice, women were typically divas cutting in front of food queues etc...how dare they....

figaro, competitions and other stresses of life

Its been a while since my last post. Busy busy busy. Sang the messiah in the rncm concert hall last week. was my first messiah here in the uk. It went well altho I was too nervous to fully enjoy it. Now I want to sing it again just to relish the experience of the full orchestra and 500 strong choir. Conductor was pleased and audience was lovely. Now its on to Figaro. Need to work on spitting out the ton of recit.

Between the opera, the song competition and the concert back home... quite stressed about learning all the music. A composer has also asked me to sing a composition of his in wales. Its written for a sop and lies quite high but will give it a go.

It just seems so surreal. I've come so far in these three years but still have a way to go. B wants me to stay another year...what to do...what to do...

Good news is that a couple of mags have asked to feature our concert in singapore. Phew... hope ticket sales go well.
