End of a second year in the UK
I know its been a while but its been a slower pace since the summer holidays started. Been working on my dissertation which is progressing slightly slower than hoped but should get there in the end and of course the rep for the concert in NTU. The music is challenging but so beautiful....its worth the work.B is not well so kind of sorting it out on my own.
Had a lovely time in oxenfoord and was interesting to meet singers from such diverse backgrounds. Fab singers who never even got accepted into college when they were younger but trained privately and are working in London. The opera scenes were the highlight of the week and was tons of fun. Had a two bar long top A I had to belt out at one point and during the performance when my moment of glory came up, my lovely but overly enthusiastic colleague (soprano of course) clapped me on the arm mid-way through the A resulting in a hilarious hiccup of shock from me. Hmm....at least the audience loved it.
Well its 4am and I'm awake due to a mysterious rattling overhead from one of my lights. Will be leaving for home in a couple of days. Good to be going back but I really left it too late buying tickets. Mind you I went looking in April and all tix from manchester were gone so I had to get one from London. This is my resulting travel plan
00: 50 bus from manchester to heathrow airport
05:45 arrive at heathrow bus station and find my way with my mountain of luggage to t 3
08:00 hopefully check in without incident
10:50 leave on the plane
7 hours later stopover (hopefully shopover if the shops are open) for 5 hours and then a further 8 hours to singapore.
Thats about 30 plus hours of travelling. Sigh.... not looking forward to it. Praying really hard it goes smoothly and hopefully arrive safe and mentally sound in singapore on sun afternoon.
